Description
A young Company clerk in his middle twenties, sitting at his desk fully buttoned into suit and cravat and sweating rivers in the Suez heat. He has not conceded a single item of clothing to the climate and does not intend to. His colleague George gave that fight up years ago and works with his sleeves rolled to the elbow ten feet away.
Background
One half of the very small British staff running the East India Company’s dispatch agency at Suez. He sees Europeans rarely and is visibly pleased when he does.
Connections
- Took Freddy’s calling card and Board of Control paperwork; the Hugh Cavendish name settled the matter, and he and George split the party between the agency’s two houses.
- Walked the party down to The Watering Hole that evening with George.
