Venns Bungalow

Description

The bungalow stands dark behind an unweeded garden, with the front door open and rain running off the verandah roof. One candle burns in a window at the far end of the house. Through the nearer doorway the drawing room is black from wall to wall, and the lamplight from the hall stops at its threshold as if at a curtain.

What’s Here

• Drawing room: filled with an unnatural darkness that swallows lamplight at its threshold.
• Study: philosophical apparatuses and surgical instruments; a Japan cash box, opened with a key from Dr Venn’s watch chain, holding 340 sicca rupees in a canvas bag and six gold mohurs wrapped in paper; Venns Daybook behind the medical books; and the Pnakotic Manuscripts. A locked cabinet, key held by Dr Venn, held the crown fitting.

History

A dark, unweeded residence in the Chowringhee district, and the site of a horrific Mi-Go brain-transfer experiment. Seven of Josiah Venn’s nine servants had fled, and he said large things walked on his roof at night. The party looted the study and framed the scene before departing.

Campaign Log

• Session 13 - Sundry Fittings — the party arrived with Dr Venn bound and giggling, and entered with torches made from the ruined carriage. In the study they found Gregor wired to the cylinder; buzzing froze most of the party, two Mi-Go came out of the dark, and Emma Wentworth tore the crown from Gregor’s skull. They drove the Mi-Go out, took the cylinder and its fittings, looted the study, drugged Dr Venn and staged the scene as a drug-induced medical experiment gone wrong.
