Description
A narrow, industrial street within Barabazar, named for its trade: armorers and metalworkers, deeper into the market than Fish Lane and reached through it. Sheikh Karim Bakhsh runs an open, steaming forge here, where a boy works the bellows and the smith himself hammers glowing metal in full view of the lane.
Notable Features
- Sheikh Karim Bakhsh’s forge. A muscular, shirtless armorer in his mid-thirties, producing functional, unadorned weapons: blackened tiger claws fitted precisely to the fingertips, and katars of watered steel.
- Prices are a fraction of the tourist shops. Emma and Georgiana purchased tiger claws and katars here at costs well below what Basak and Nephew’s charged for decorative equivalents.
- Reached by pushing deeper into the market, through lanes that grow narrower and more crowded with every turn.
