Description
Two years old. Named for Frederick Cavendish, the cousin Hugh had not seen in eleven years and named his firstborn after anyway — which tells you a great deal about Hugh and nothing at all about Freddy.
He toddles the compound under an ayah’s eye, and he is at the age where strangers are interesting rather than frightening.
Background
Born in Calcutta in 1812, the elder of Hugh and Meg’s children. A second is due in February 1815.
Appearances
On the party’s first evening at the Cavendish Estate (8 October 1814) he was carried out to meet the man he was named after, smiled and gurgled at him, and was promptly sick down the front of Freddy’s suit.
